ArXiv & Reading Papers¶
Reading papers is one of the first things your supervisor will ask you to do, and it is less straightforward than it sounds. This track covers how to find relevant work, how to read it without getting lost, and how to build a system for managing what you find.
Lessons¶
| Lesson | Topic | What you will learn |
|---|---|---|
| 01: Finding Papers | ArXiv & search tools | ArXiv categories, search, keyword filters, and email alert subscriptions |
| 02: Reading Strategy | How to read efficiently | Abstract → conclusions → figures → methods; the three-pass method |
| 03: Managing Papers | Reference management | Zotero, annotation tools, and building a literature archive |
Work through the lessons in order if you are starting from scratch. If you already know how to find papers, jump to whichever lesson covers what you need.
Examples¶
The examples/arxiv/ folder
contains runnable scripts and notebooks covered in Lesson 01.
Each topic has both a plain script and a Jupyter notebook with step-by-step commentary.
